Dear Parishioners, On behalf of Maureen, we extend warm congratulations to our First Holy Communion children, their parents and families. I was privileged to preside at our First Holy Communion Mass on May 8th at 10 am and 12 noon and this Saturday, the 15th at 12 noon. We had decided not to have a rehearsal to avoid cross contamination and I have to say everything went well. The children were well prepared, and Maureen as always, is on top of her game. She loves to teach the 2nd Grade herself and they respond in such a positive way. There is no better gift than the sharing of our faith. I hope and pray that our young children in God’s time may be the next generation of strong Catholic parents who enrich the world with God’s grace. Several of our children came back on Sunday to receive a blessing and were warmly congratulated by our parish community. I applaud all of our CCD parents for the sharing of our Catholic faith and strongly encourage them as we prepare for the summer to make Sunday Mass a priority. As always, Kathe DeRose and her cantors did a great job with the music which was appreciated by all. A big thanks to our maintenance staff who worked so hard in arranging the chairs in family group formations. Thanks to everybody who worked extra hard to help to make these beautiful celebrations so perfect. Mother’s Day was so touching. Fr. Hubert and I were so pleased to consecrate our parish to our Blessed Mother and to bless the great grandmothers, grand-moms, mothers and godmothers who attended mass in person and virtually on Mother’s Day. A big thank you to all our wonderful musicians for the beautiful mother-centered pieces which we so appreciated. Ladies, I invite you to consider registering for our upcoming Women’s Cornerstone Retreat which will be on June 4-5. The retreat will begin on Friday evening and end at 5 pm Saturday mass. During the retreat time, women will give inspiring talks and Fr. Mike and I will be available for confessions. This will be a great mini-weekend retreat time for ladies to refresh and renew their faith. As I have been mentioning, I begin a new Bereavement Group on May 17th at 7 pm. If you or anyone has been bereaved in the last two years, I encourage you to attend. Please access the registration form online or pick up a form from the narthex so you can be part of this beautiful healing ministry. We are thrilled to begin having outdoor masses this Saturday at 5 pm. We will continue until late September to early October. Should we have a rainy Saturday, the mass will then take place in the church. The outdoor mass was initially planned for people who were nervous meeting indoors but now so many people who have been out and about, love gathering outdoors. We are blessed to have such a beautiful outdoor space where we feel and see, the presence of God. We look forward to having Bishop Kevin Sweeney come and preside at our Confirmation Mass on Thursday, June 17th at 7 pm. Bishop will celebrate mass at the outdoor chapel so that our Confirmandi will be able to invite as many guests as they would like in a socially distanced setting, surround them with prayer and love during this special celebration. We look forward to our PreK graduation on May 20th at 11 am. We are blessed to have such a Christ-centered, academically gifted program here at St. Luke. I look forward to this joyful event. Fr. Owen
