Protecting God’s Children
If any person may have been abused by any priest, they should
immediately contact their local County Prosecutor’s Office and the
Diocese’s Victims Assistance Coordinator: Dr. Ken McNiel at
973-879-1489. You may also be in touch with either of the Diocesan
Response Officers: Monsignor T. Mark Condon, Vicar General and

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at St. Luke Parish! The Diocese of Paterson requires all volunteers and/or employees who have regular contact with children and minors to complete the process outlined below.
Step One: Complete an Internet Background Check – Please email the Coordinator (Jodi Galloway, [email protected]) your full legal name and the email address you’d like the background check to go to. At that point the background check will be initiated. You will receive an email asking that you to electronically sign a Consent and Disclosure Form. Once that is completed you will enter sensitive information required in order to run your background check. That information will then be submitted and results sent to the Child Protection Coordinator.
Step Two: Sign the Code of Pastoral Conduct – Once the clear results of your background check are received the Coordinator will email you to let you know. Attached to that email will be the Code of Pastoral Conduct for you to read. Also attached will be the Acknowledgement page for you to complete and return to the Coordinator within seven (7) days.
Step Three: Attend a Virtus Training Class – “Protecting God’s Children” – After you have been cleared through an internet background check you have 90 days to attend a Virtus Class – “Protecting God’s Children”. To view the schedule of classes and register go to the Paterson Diocese Website – http://rcdop.org/. Go to the top of the page and under Diocesan Offices click on Child Protection.Then on the left under Child Protection click on Training: Child Abuse. Scroll to the bottom of that page and click on “click here to register for Child Protection Training” This will take you to the Virtus registration page. Once you’ve completed the course please submit a copy of your certificate to the Coordinator within seven (7) days.
For Volunteers who are under 18 years old – Please contact the Coordinator to receive The Code of Pastoral Conduct. The Acknowledgement will need to be completed and returned to the Coordinator within seven (7) days.
