Dear Parishioners, On Friday, April 28th through Saturday, April 29th, we had a spirit filled Women’s Cornerstone retreat, 51 women attended in all. A big thanks to Beth and Jamie, who were the Co-chairs and to all the various committees who worked so hard to build a loving environment and a faith-center experience. We had nineteen new candidates. It was wonderful that Catholic women could get together, share their story, and make new friends. Thank you so much ladies for the love you have given to our new Cornerstone sisters, for the time and commitment you put into the experience and for the witness of Christ’s love in our community. On Wednesday, the 3rd, we finished our last Wednesday CCD class. This year was a great success. On Sunday the 7th, we finished our last cycle B class. Thank you to all our catechists. Also, on the 7th, our 9th grade completed the first cycle of their Confirmation program. We look forward to having them for 10th grade in September. I appreciate the help given by all of our catechists. I was thrilled to celebrate First Holy Communions this Saturday, the 13th at 10 am and 12 noon. As I write this before the event, we hold our children and parents in prayer. I will write about this joyful event next week. On Tuesday, May 16th, Bishop Kevin will preside at the Confirmation Liturgy. Please hold our Confirmandi in prayer as they prepare to become young adult Catholics. A big thanks to Bob Dunne and Dan Furnald who gave a presentation after Mass last weekend on our Career Transition Ministry. If anyone needs support in this area, please see the bulletin for Bob’s contact information. I am excited that we will have our new Rosary Society here at St. Luke. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, May 17th at 7 pm. We will begin with a talk which I am pleased to give on Mary’s role in the modern world. Following this, we will pray the Rosary, at 7:30 pm. Immediately following, I will install Karen Hannon, Barbara Carangelo and Pat Turner. We will then go to the Marian Room for a Silver Tea. The Silver Tea is a traditional May festivity, normally hosted by the Rosarians. It is little tea sandwiches, cakes and tea served in silver tea pots. It is Old World and elegant. During the tea, we will discuss logistics such as best days to meet and a plan going forward for the future. This Rosary Society is open to all parishioners, women and men, young and old. Please join us during this month of May as we begin this new relationship with Mary as a parish community. I so appreciate the positive response from my finance talk last weekend. For those of you who were away last week, I thank each and everyone one of you for your commitment to our parish. For those of us who donate online through Faith Direct, please consider increasing your sacrifice. For those of you who sacrifice through cash or envelopes, please consider online giving which helps us to budget. If you prefer not to, we appreciate your sacrifice and as with our other parishioners, prayerfully consider an increase if you can. On this Mother’s Day weekend, we thank God for our mothers, grandmothers, godmothers and mom figures. We are blessed. We honor those who are with us and pray for those who are with God. We love you mom! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
